The Community Support Team of St. George is committed to caring for the material needs of both the local community of Wichita and of our own parishioners. To this end, the team members regularly visit the sick in the hospital and sometimes even in their homes. Another good work of this team is the regular "Cook Up a Storm" kitchen sessions, held one Saturday morning every few months or so. For a couple of hours, Community Support team members prepare food that is then taken to a local shelter, hospice or halfway house. And any leftovers are saved in order to provide food for parishioners who occasionally have an urgent need for prepared meals. Of course, the most well-known project of Community Support is the preparation of Christmas gifts and food baskets for the needy in the Wichita community. In July this year, look for a similar project to help school-age children with their school preparations.
